I’ve been quite involved with Streamezzo since its creation. First, we were at the same incubator at Telecom Paris, then Kamayo which I co-founded based his work on STZ’s engine and got eventually acquired by STZ, and I had the chance to keep close bounds with the company.

Innovacom invested last year in Streamezzo and reboosted the company so well that it just got acquired by AMDOCS. While I don’t know the details of the deals, one can only guess that such a quick turn-around means a good deal for Innovacom and for the founders (who are known to be treated respectfully by Innovacom).

The technology will certainly become a part of AMDOCS’ CES portfolio offering to Telcos worldwide. As usual when it comes to operators technology, 100% of user-base support is compulsory and Streamezzo has been the only one to reach that level yet.

This round of funding will assist Streamezzo in expanding its international sales and marketing infrastructure, in consolidating its presence in China as well as in bolstering its leadership position in the mobile application arena. The new investment will facilitate, among other activities, to expand its current product and service offerings, as well as to support its developer’s ecosystem with enhanced solutions meeting the ever growing demand of technology enabling to easily create and massively deploy innovative rich mobile applications.

I’m sure that Innovacom will be a terrific partner and that the latest changes inside Streamezzo are pointing the company in the right direction. As you know I co-founded Kamayo, a rich media agency sold to Streamezzo in 2007 and as such I know how unique their technology and know-how is solving the issue of addressing massive amounts of mobile phones in a homogenous way.

Can’t wait too see how the business and use cases will grow for them !

When I co-founded Kamayo in 2005 (which was acquired by Streamezzo), we did most of our mobile services based on the Streamezzo technology which was and still is the only one able to provide a full framework enabling mobile developers to create applications that work on *a lot* of mobile devices and even low-ends…
The technology has matured a lot over the years and now it obviously can be brought to the “masses” of developers. To do that and to animate this community of experts Streamezzo just announced today at Mobile World Congress the launch of their developer program at http://developer.streamezzo.com where you can get the SDK and learn your way through the Streamezzo tools and language.

Freely downloadable, the Streamezzo SDK includes; Streamezzo Workbench (authoring tool based on the Eclipse IDE), Streamezzo Rich Media Server Developer Edition (J2EE compliant mobile application server), Streamezzo Components Library (Music and Video Players, RSS Reader, Picture Slide Show…), Streamezzo GUI Toolkit (Carousels, progress bars, animations…).
