Avatar AR game cards

Total Imersion and Mattel just released the game cards for the new Avatar movie. This is probably the first full-scale implementation of Total Immersion’s augmented reality technology in a mass market consumer product. They had this amazing demos for years with Pokemon cards fighting one-another.
Congratulations, hope this will be the first of many successful consumer products for them!

Augmented ID

This is my networker of a wife’s dream, being able to tell in a public place who’s who by just firing your phone (and thus saving you the hassle of asking the waiter to investigate….
Pretty nice concept video (all fake) but illustrating brilliantly the idea.

ARhrrrr Augmented Reality Shooter

ARhrrrr is a very impressive augmented reality shooter game created at Georgia Tech Augmented Environments Lab and Savannah College of Art and Design, (SCAD- Atlanta), and produced on the NVidia Tegra devkits which are used as demonstration purposes for next-gen portable graphics platforms.
This gives out a pretty funny and interactive game experience!

Augmented Reality use cases

Although I really find Augmented Reality to be amazingly impressive as a technology, I’m still not convinced by the use cases around this technology. Of course having a “terminator”-like view of your environment can be usefull in finding Sarah Connor when she’s hiding in a crowd – but let’s face it augmented reality remains useless imho if you cannot interact seamlessly with the system to let it know precisely what data you’re interested in.
Here’s another example of “Arisu” (Japanese’s Alice) your augmented reality maid… nice and kawai but useless…
