SpotCoffee on TV journal
As you may now, Spotcoffee is a Spin-Off of WaveStorm created when we evolved last year from a WiFi management solutions provider to a enabler of the Internet of Things. Our assets were thus gathered in Spotcoffee which is now a standalone company run by Jean-Charles who was a co-founder of WaveStorm. Yesterday they had an awesome coverage at TV news on national channel TF1. Check this out:

Web3 means connecting things
Very nice article this week in l’Usine Nouvelle about Web 3, and of course WaveStorm is highlighted! Here are a few quotes (in French, sorry):

Editorial of “Electronique”
Electronique is the best monthly issue about electronics you can get in France aimed at engineers mostly (some subjects are really tough … ). I had the oportunity to write this month’s foreword, and got a nice picture on p3 ;). I mostly wanted in this foreword to stress that it’s still way too costly to create wireless things: expensive skills, expensive tools, expensive prototypyng phase… and WaveStorm is preparing easy to use solutions on that regards so that any SMB can afford to add wireless (WiFi, BT, UWB…) to their products.
Thanks Atryu for the photo session !

WaveStorm on a:c Europe
Valerie just made a very nice review on WaveStorm’s latest activities on her alarm:clock Europe blog. Let’s hope Ki’i Frame will indeed be the children’s gift to their parents this christmas to keep them updated with their grandsons’ latest pics ! As she writes, there are more well-known brands to be announced … but I will have to keep my mouth shut for another few weeks before it becomes public !

Back from Innovate Europe 2007
It was the first time I attend Innovate Europe in Zaragoza, and I just loved it ! We were showing both Meccano Spykee and our latest wireless project the Ki’i Frame both based on our hardware CNX modules and our software stack. Our so-called booth, with was rather a table + chairs was right at the entrance of Zaragoza’s Teatro Principal where the conference was taking place … and what a succes we got ! Everyone was amazed by Spykee wandering around the theater playing sounds and blinking leds. If we already had had a few boxes they would have beeen all sold in a couple of minutes. Ki’i Frame also really got our audience enthousiastic ! With the usual pitch “you can give it to your mother and then remotely change the pictures you want her to see” or “if you like diving, you can watch live when people uploads new images on the Flickr diving group”, everyone was starting to imagine how digital imaging just got a lot easier !
But the most important thing is certainly the quality of the people that were present, bright young entrepreneurs (Florent, Franck, Olivier), bright experienced entrepreneurs (Rodrigo, Marc, Tariq…) all with awesome project and ideas to share, VCs, analysts… and I even had the pleasure to finally meet Martin Varsavsky, Fon’s CEO who was honored with an “Entrepreneur of the year” award.
Thanks Chris, Tina, Cathy and all the Guidewire team to letting me in and thanks Lucie-Anne for your time and disponibility during the event, following you always lead to nice encounters ;).
Some more pics available on my flickr.

WaveStorm MAC Adresses !

WaveStorm has a bunch of 16 million MAC addresses reserved at IEEE
That should be enough for 2007 I guess ;). Pretty fun to see our name in IEEE Listings ! If you see a MAC address on your network starting with 00-1C-3D, it’s one of our product !
