LinkedIn mobile

LinkedIn is the only social network I really use – Facebook is fun but really too much time wasted and not very professional/business – don’t need no social network to manage my real friends. LinkedIn just released its mobile version with a w00t iPhone-ready interface, check it out, it’s got it all

Omnigraffle chess stencils
If you’re on a MAC, playing chess and using Omnigraffle for creating chess diagrams, then you’re in bad need of Danny’s Chess stencils. Unfortunately, those were not available anymore on his main site, fortunately, Danny sent them to me and let mobitrends mirror them, so here there are just for you!

Second Life on iPhone
More or less… this is mostly a server connected to SL and streaming a video of that experience to the iPhone.

Turn your N95 into a WiFi hotspot
Just installed JoikuSpot, which is an awesome symbian app that turns your N95 into a WiFi Hotspot. Installs easily and creates a WiFi ad-hoc connection named “JoikuSpot”. Then you can connect from any WiFi devices easily and get HSDPA access to the network – that’s the door open for ubiquitous computing ! Go grab it here !
I tried some time ago to do the same with my Windows Mobile phone and I managed but only through a hideous hack !
Zattoo – Live P2P TV on your PC
Just discovered Zattoo which *is* really impressive. Zattoo is live TV on your PC… this is nice already, but when you realize that the content elivery network is actually done in Peer-to-Peer and that the guys at Zattoo actually are working country-by-country in getting the right to broadcast the local channels and building up a “virtual” cable operator, you can only reamin astonished at that awesome project that really is a killer compared to Joost. They can guarantee you will get the live media stream to display the first image in less than 5 seconds which is impressive. LiveTV is the ground 0 service expected by the end user and they deliver it in a really smart way. Can’t wait to see how the company expands !
This week’s gadgets
Like every week got my tons of new gadgets
, firstly an eeePC. I tried it (and sold it back) just because I wanted the special SF 3g+ eeePC data plan which is unlimited. eeePC is cool but really too limited, tried the Skype video chat and works fine. Overall is a cool device, too bad the screen is so small.
Then there was the freebox upgrade (not exactly a gadget but still cool) with a whole new UI. I personally find it crappy especially as the shortcuts on the remote are not working anymore.

Finally received a Novag Citrine. This thing is w00t, it’s an electronic chess board with movement detection and a serial connection. I’ll show you at the next broadband thursday what crazy people really are up to when they get their hands on that kind of gear
.
