For those wondering what’s up with the “Intel – WiMax now” initiative that was supposed to fall upon us simple technology savvy geeks… well it sounds like it’s not dead . I can remember the slides seen in 206 where we could see the roadshow prepared by Intel, the communication they were preparing for 2007, and finally we must say it went pretty dead… *but* things might be changing. First of all WiMax has joined 3g standard, thus making it widely usable (from a frequency / spectrum assignation prospective) and Intel is working on a new generation of WiFi/WiMax/DVB-H all-in-one chipset that will obviously be added to their Centrino platform thus embedded in every single laptop when it is released (no date yet).
WiMax might be coming after all
