WoW on holidays

with one comment

Picture 5
Tried WoW for the holidays, and I must say this MMORPG really rox - no surprise it’s been so successful. Quests are greats, a lot of people are online to play with when you need a hand to go through a nest on enemies, difficulty is pretty well balanced, I’m having a lot of fun ;). After trying a couple of races/classes mix, I’m getting pretty comfortable with my Tauren Warrior called “Bawawa” (a stupid hollow name in Bleach). I’m playing in “Aerie Peak” US server for those who might want to join.

Rubik’s cube 2.0

with one comment

Some simple ideas really rox :

The cube has been programmed to play a handful of games, such as a PacMan-inspired maze game. But the combination of touch, light and three dimensions opens up a range of possibilities - from music games, to puzzles and even a lifestyle device.

Merry Xmas !

with one comment

Snapshot_003.bmp

As you can see my xmas tree is still a bit empty so here is what would be my wishlist of xmas gifts :
  • A ticket for the VIP blogger list @ Nokia to get all those high end phones before they are out (Xavier I’m looking at you ;) ) especially since I expect a lot from Nokia next year !
  • An Amazon Kindle working in France - I’ve been reading ebooks since a couple of month and this device are a real revolution in the way I buy/read books
  • A complete home automation set of devices, including light plugs, audio systems (Sonos like) and co to play with… been playing with those a lot at the office I need that ;)
  • A World of Warcraft account - well if I listen to my friends I don’t really want that but I’ve been playing on the free trial and it looks pretty cool !
  • A Sim in Second Life - I’ve been renting a quarter sim for quite some time now and the change of the landlords make it not really stable - come and check on my island on Angelfire
  • And to finish up with that gift list, I’d go for some more free time to play with baby Georges ;)

WiFi / WiMax / DVB-H single chip

without comments

Intel Logo Sm-1

For those wondering what’s up with the “Intel - WiMax now” initiative that was supposed to fall upon us simple technology savvy geeks… well it sounds like it’s not dead ;). I can remember the slides seen in 206 where we could see the roadshow prepared by Intel, the communication they were preparing for 2007, and finally we must say it went pretty dead… *but* things might be changing. First of all WiMax has joined 3g standard, thus making it widely usable (from a frequency / spectrum assignation prospective) and Intel is working on a new generation of WiFi/WiMax/DVB-H all-in-one chipset that will obviously be added to their Centrino platform thus embedded in every single laptop when it is released (no date yet).
WiMax might be coming after all ;)

Zumobi goes beta

without comments

Zumobi is a spin-off form Microsoft that aims at changing the user experience with managing your favorite online contents. You get a tile view of your services which you can zoom back and forth, access, share… The UI is pretty cool and especially on the iPhone. Beta for windows mobile + developper tools to develop new tiles are available now.

Le Web 3 - day one

without comments

It started monday morning at 3i where I got the chance to make a dry run of the WaveStorm/RiiMOTE presentation I did today on stage. Thanks Alex for your cool feedback and to the other contestants along with cathy that were doing crazy stuff like Seesmic videos in the waiting room.
Yesterday’s speaker’s party was a really cool warm up to get in the mood for this edition of Le Web 3. I got the chance to meet with Om Malik (yeah *the* Om Malik from GigaOM) and Robert Scoble (and baby Scoble, 3 month and so cute) two of the most influential US bloggers… that LeWeb3 edition is really starting well ;).

The first day itself was really tiresome, the Les Dock stage is huge… especially as it is separated on 3 different locations (my feet hurt like at CES…). 2000 people in that vast area make it hard to find each other, but I guess I managed to catch up with everyone.

PC110003.JPGI only attended three panels (I promise, I’ll watch the other ones onlien when they’re available), first one was with Philippe Starck, awesome presentation with a sooo cute French accent, great vision, great man, great life-achievements… this guy is really amazing.

PC110012.JPGSecond one was about garagegeeks that made a live demo of a humanoid playing guitar Hero… awesome ! Finally I saw Joi Ito present Creative Commons and demonstrating content creation based on World of Warcraft. That just pushed me in downloading the 3.5G of WoW and trying that out by myself.
I also did my presentation on the Startup competition - that went pretty well, 7 minutes is a short time to go through a full-scale project but anyway I hope the judge got a good picture about what we’re trying to achieve at WaveStorm ! I hope I can get one of the prizes tomorrow ;)
Anyway Geraldine, Cathy and Loïc did an awesome job in organizing this edition… only as last time WiFi by Swisscom was sucking biiiiig time ;)

Orange launching a WiFi Photo Frame

without comments

I just spotted it on Rodrigo’s Gallery, I must confess the design really doesn’t look good at all :/. Probably made by Sagem (tbc), it connects to the Orange Photo service. Should launch before xmas in France (if they are on time)… hope it doesn’t retail for too much as screen quality seems limited and design is really poor… there’s no way I’d put this in my home. Lookign forward to trying it though. Launch was expected 11/2007 as stated in this pdf, no price yet.
