HSDPA up on Orange
A few day after Rodrigo noticed an “H” on his n95, it’s my turn to see my SGH-i600 surf the Orange network at HSDPA speed, and it indeed rocks ! Check the speedtest, it’s a pretty good line, equivalent to our first DSL, thus far from our usual 20MBps but still it makes mobile multimedia possible !

Georges is in the place!
Some of you might have read that on my twitter, “Georges, Dimitri” is born last Friday (27/7/2007, lots of “7″) at 9:59am with 3,4Kg and 51,5cm tall. Baby and mom are both fine, and this will be my excuse for limiting a bit my blogging for the next few days/weeks. Hopefully August won’t be too exposed to new mobile trends breakthrough ;).

Frozen Bubble on S60
Just read on Neteco that Frozen Bubble was available for free on Symbian S60 Platform. I remember having played hours Frozen Bubble when I was working in Japan with a certain co-worker… 
that was over 5 years ago ! Although, contrary to what neteco said, it was available for quite some time already (I had it on my Nokia 6600), it has been ported on the latest Symbian spartphone and thus got some press, and I felt like sharing with you this emotional moment Grab it here ! I remember there also was a quite pink pinguin Symbian theme available, but cannot find any link to it anymore.

Got a Wii !
This gaming console is awesome … we had a lot of fun yesterday evening with Wii Sports ;). As you know the console has WiFI built-in, and the WiiMote is really awesome with its accelerometer and internal speaker. I’ll show you a bunch of pics of the internals of the console in a couple of days !
If you have some recommendations about cool games, let me know!
Wireless HD
I’ve been reporting for some time about Wireless HD, and the technology looks to have matured as the first products are starting to arrive in stores. I spotted earlier this year at CES the first HDMI UWB link, and it looks like DELL and Lenovo have now announced to include built-in support for this technology in their upcoming proucts. The official names are going to be “WUSB” for Wireless USB or “Wireless HD” for the TV version … So many names for one single technology : UWB (Ultra Wide Band). Wireless USB has been annoucd earlier this week as part of the USB forum.

Thanks Martin for pointing out this Tokyo metro map filled with the top 200 Web companies, it looks awesome… next year I want WaveStorm and the Web 3 inside !

Admob
I reported last year about AdMob launch, and finally I come to try it live on the mobile version of Mobitrends.com, and I must confess I’m pretty impressed, although it might look normal, but ads are personalized by detecting the mobile type (in my case it’s writtent “i600″) and were fairly easy to install. I know Olivier from Mobiluck has had very good results with this, I’ll give it a try for a couple of weeks !

Mail push - reloaded
Just after I said I was so happy with Hotmail to push mail on my mobile .. I must confess there are drawbacks… to run it requires that I sign in with MSN Messenger which polls the network like hell and takes my battery away in just a couple of hours. I managed to have the Cortado mobile Exchange service work this morning… let’s see if this helps! Otherwise I might just give up with that push mail thing and wait for the IPhone to come to France!

10 000 visitors/month
I never realized that Mobitrends was approaching the 10 000 visitors/month … if you add to this figures from google analytics the 400 readers subscribed to the feedburner feed… it turns out to be a pretty decent amount for a vertical non-pro tech blog Also realised I’ve been blogging for more than two years… thanks to all of you my readers for your fidelity

Mobile version of Mobitrends
One reason I switched to wordpress is because it has an awesome plugin base amongst which there happen to be Alex King’s and especially one called “WordPress Mobile Edition”. It detetcs when you try to access Mobitrends from a mobile browser and reformat the whole thing to be easily readable on a mobile. I’d love to register a “.mobi” domain name but I just realized I have no idea where this can be done… if anyone knows please let me know!
