Palm just announced its latest device and, guess what, it isn’t a Smartphone ! It’s called Foleo and it’s a small (10″ screen) lightweight and ultra mobile (5h autonomy) convenient (immediate sleep/resume), mobile (WiFi/Bluetooth) connected thing. The device should retail around 500USD. I guess I’d really enjoy having one when traveling or attending conferences. No words about the OS used. I hope they won’t close it and rather take the Nokia option with an Opensource system such as Maemo used in Nokia N700 and N800 tablets. It’s pretty fun t see Palm go into the ultra-portable business. The way they are describing this device sounds like a mere PDA with a keyboard although I’m sure it much more like a PC, I guess it’s called marketing and segmentation but still let’s hope that this device won’t end up as a nice try.
Update : DailyWireless says it’s runnign Linux, good news !
