Saw that yesterday in Paris, just after Fanny’s Party… but it wasn’t working although I stayed for a while in front of the panel. It’s fun to see though that this kind of bluetooth-ad-thing is starting to sell and you can now run across one anywhere !

As Nokia has not included me in its blogger program (Xavier never answers my emails
) and as I’m fed up with my N90 which is now 1,5 year old and has a battery life span of less than one day, I want to change. So if any phone manufacturer/distributor reading this blog is feeling like sending me a new smartphone I’d be more than happy to blog a lot using it

If you missed it, since firmware 2.70, the sony PSP includes a Flash Player. Along with that Adobe opened a developer page dedicated to the PSP. The embedded player is a Flash Player 6. The only huge drawback is that the playback of video data such as H.263, Sorenson Video or Motion JPEG is not supported
maybe next time ! By the way, if you want to do some real development on the PSP, hook yourself up on ps2dev.

Man, now your house (which is wired) needs a SIM card for the doorbell…
First thing, let me stress one point : putting GSM everywhere is *not* the solution. If you want an object to start communicating, please think carefully about what you already have around as networks (Powerline, WiFi, GSM…), what you really need as service (speed, availability costs) and only when you have a clear sight make your choice.
Anyway, please welcome the GSM Doorbell
“The GSM-doorbell is a system that connects a visitor, who is ringing the doorbell, to the mobile phone of the homeowner. The homeowner is now able to speak to the visitor via the intercom system, and to open the door by entering a pin code on the mobile phone. The patented concept meets a need in accessibility, usability, security and comfort.”
I think that using the mobile phone to control your door opening is great… but that wouldn’t in any case require that the doorbell use GSM… it could easily share any available wired phone line.

I had this news ready to post for a while and just couldn’t find the time to do it. Comverse has released a Second Life client for Mobile. It is just like eqo, it still requires a PC to be running SL and a special SL Mobile client, but still having 3D java mobile applications isn’t that common yet (also the JSR has been around for some time). I hope Comverse can benefit from Linden Labs’ (SL creator) opensourcing their SL client!
