Just talked to Kurt about what echovox is and basically it’s a Swiss company that was mainly B2B (working the M6 SMS interactive system for instance) ans smsconnect is their first B2C service. They support 9 European country (US to come) and it’s 100% free ! Just connect to the site, use the API and start billing, easy as a Pie. revenue model is based on Revenue sharing, they take 3% of management fees.

I love Echovox (now zong.com) ‘s business model, the 0 setup 0 monthly fee is really attractive for marketers looking to ‘test’ a market prior to a full launch
I see that you also mentioned Jet Multimedia on this blog, which have a similar model in Spain.
Do you know of any other premium SMS operators that provide this model?

freebiesms (which seems to have its service provided by Echovox in Switzerland), is just the kind of scam site that has given the industry a bad name, and continues to do so.
It purports to offer a free online SMS gateway – not true in many cases. More to the point, even when it is true to send an SMS, the recipient is charged £5 to read it. The message to the recipient is carefully composed to make it appear that the cost is 5p (‘cost 5′).
