Freescale, a semiconductor fabless manufacturer providing advanced RF Chips including UWB & pre-802.11n which was spin-offed from motorolla in mid-2003 was sold last thursday to private equity firms led by BlackStone Group for $17.6 … the biggest technology buyout ever !
Freescale says they have made more than 17 billion semiconductors, embedded in automobiles, computer networks, communications infrastructure, office buildings, factories, industrial equipment, tools, mobile phones, home appliances and consumer products.
I believe very much that technologies like the one provided by Freescale are going to be implanted and every single device by 2010… opening up on a huge 50 billion devices market ! No wonder that company valuation is so high …
