Meet Antoine Brenner Founder of VideoLan project

with 3 comments

I met again Antoine this week in China. Antoine was the founder of the Videolan project 10 years ago, he explains us the genesis of the project. He has been a successful entrepreneur since then and now owns Gymglish, a company providing email based English courses.

I just would like to highlight the fact that I was not the only founder of the videolan project, but one of the four co-founders who started the projet even though we did not write any code !

    Thanks,
    Antoine

  3. As the successor Antoine mentions in the video, I’m delighted to see that:

    1) Antoine is having fun in China (Hi Antoine!),

    2) He told the story very well,

    3) The story matches with my recollection of the events.

Since this blogs shamelessly plugs Antoine’s company, I think it is only fair to mention that the two persons who wrote the first VideoLAN lines of code now both work for VMware (http://www.vmware.com/). If you want to work in a cool company on cool projects (like porting VMware hosted products to Mac OS X x86), drop me an email.
